Pre-Season

AND IT BEGINS!

The 2008 season opener is right around the corner. A new chapter in the long, storied history of Cardinal Mooney football is about to be written. What the future holds, nobody knows. There are many questions to be answered and many new faces to answer them with.

Once again, the road ahead is treacherous! This road includes two trips to Mentor, Ohio….to face the high-flying Mentor Cardinals and always powerful Mentor Lake Catholic Cougars. There’s a return trip to the Herbstreit – Ohio vs the USA Challenge at Canton’s Fawcett Stadium to face Covington Catholic out of Kentucky. The only other “away” game this season is a drive to Trumbull County to meet the Raiders of Warren G. Harding at Mollenkopf Stadium. The 2008 home slate includes two “home” games at Austintown Fitch High School against Buffalo St Francis and the rugged Eagles of Columbus Bishop Watterson in week 10. Rounding out the schedule are home games against perennial powerhouses Cleveland Benedictine, Akron St Vincent – St Mary’s, Elyria Catholic and our arch rivals from the wrong side of the river, the Fighting Irish of Ursuline High School.

How this season unfolds will be determined by hard work, heart and desire….traits that every great Mooney football team over the years has owned. I have no doubts this year’s version will give their all on every play to continue the tradition that is….MOONEY FOOTBALL!

Good luck men and God Bless all of you!

GO CARDS!!!

Always,
The Rock
