It
looks like another long time combatant is about to end their affiliation
with the Cardinals. Warren G Harding comes to town this weekend.
The Raiders have decided to leave the once proud Steel Valley Conference
and quite possibly not resume the series with Cardinal Mooney. Mooney
and Ursuline have become independents this season. The Cardinals
lead the all-time series with Harding 13 to 9:
1982: Cardinal Mooney 7-6
1983: Cardinal Mooney 10-7
1984: Cardinal Mooney 7-6
1985: Cardinal Mooney 27-7
1991: Warren Harding 21-14
1992: Cardinal Mooney 16-15
1993: Warren Harding 21-20
1994: Warren Harding 21-6
1995: Cardinal Mooney 7-0
1996: Cardinal Mooney 14-10
1997: Cardinal Mooney 24-8
1998: Warren Harding 41-3
1999: Cardinal Mooney 29-6
2000: Warren Harding 28-6
2001: Warren Harding 33-0
2002: Warren Harding 42-0
2003: Warren Harding 21-19
2004: Warren Harding 22-20
2005: Cardinal Mooney 36-19
2006: Cardinal Mooney 28-13
2007: Cardinal Mooney 49-0
2008: Cardinal Mooney 17-0
It’s sad to see these old rivals continue to leave. With the
quality of football played in the Youngstown area, it’s a
shame the “powers to be” at the Valley High Schools
won’t let these kids play each other!
Best of luck to Coach Fecko, the coaching staff and the 2009 Cardinal
Mooney Cardinals!
Always,
The Rock
